I agree Don. I wasn't going to answer, but then I thought, someone has to say something.
Remember, I didn't say that. Tombo did. Maybe that didn't belong in the first place.
This is a drum forum and regardless of the initial topic, people will argue when weird things are posted.
Klemme thanks for bringing it back to reality. Does Michael now have cancer of the blood? I thought it was MDS. They're different.

*sigh*. ..hardly the place the be arguing logistics on musical analogies I would think. And why ask someone to go away just because you disagree with them?
Anyway, I'm very concerned about Breck's condition. I really hope he pulls through.

Flarob....
Grow some thick skin. Just because Tombo makes a comment on Michael being the Vinnie of the saxaphone, doesn't mean you have to fire on everyone for such a small comparison.
This IS a DRUM board. Vinnie IS a drummer, if not regarded as one of the greatest drummers in the world. Michael is a sax player, also, if not regarded as one of the greatest in the world.
If you don't see the common sense in why Tombo said such a thing, I'm sure Micheal himself would. I'm sure he'd take it as a compliment because that's what it was meant to be.
PS.... and the topic of this thread was Michael and his sickness. Try to have a little respect for a thread that was started on that theme, and not a thread for you to vent you nitpickings.

I was there, it was free. I remembered reading about this on the forum. I figured what the hell. Since I was getting blood work done for my shoulder operation anyway. Just another Heeb trying to help the same.

Listen, I don't have to grow thick skin. I can comment as I please. I thought it was a funny comment, and I called it. That's all.
Vinnie although never in the Brecker bros, or never having been in any of MBreck's bands, is a sideman.
If Michael was the Vinnie of the sax, well, he would be an amazing sax sideman. Well folks..he's way more than that. He's a modern jazz icon along with having the sensibilities to play sideman gigs. He's an amazing leader and composer. To me, that comment was making him out to be less than he is. He's way more than that.
That's all I was saying.
You can't tell me I'm wrong for speaking the truth and speaking my mind. Even if the intent was good. Even if this post is about MB's health. It was said, and I felt like I needed to say something about it. It's a forum. Let's move on.

Go away flarob.....
No one really needs your "enlitenment" here. I'm sure there are other kiddie drum forums you'd be more suited at.

I don't see what's wrong with voicing the opinion that Michael Brecker is the Vinnie of Sax. (It's like when I say that Harry James is the Buddy Rich of the trumpet). I feel certain MB would be glad to know that he is so highly regarded among drummers. I'm also pretty certain that Tombo's intent was to give MB the highest compliment he could and that MB would have understood it that way.
Anyway, I hope and pray that MB finds the doner he needs and has a full recovery.

Para...
Actually.... I'm a VERY nice guy. Ask the several people that know me here personally. I know where I stand with most here, do you??
You and Flarob are/were new comers that quite frankly have stirred the pot to some very heated debates.
Notice... I didn't go to Steve Hass' board and post this. It was you.
"Hey Hass, the house of drumming board is getting really out of hand. I need some advice. There's this guy Randy Walker talking all this crap about you out of sheer jealousy. People saying Vinnie Colaiuta is a great jazz drummer, I mean they're totally out of line.
Everytime I state my opinion or a fact about something I heard it gets knocked down. It's like a kiss ass board to Vinnie and Vinnie sound a likes. The problem is that it can also be a great board at times. Maybe you can make an appearance on there and quite everyone down."
I think calling HOD a "kiss ass" board is an insult to ALL OF US HERE AT HOD. Take a hint by the MANY people that have asked Flarob to leave. But for some reason he chooses to stay??
Para... I remember the Haas event clearly. And if you remember, you, SDK, and Flarob had nearly everyone on the board pissed at you guys. I just came in an talked some plain ol' logical sense. Yes... I get pissed just like the next guy, I have my breaking point, and youz guyz have pushed the boundries with your shanagans. I usually refrain from going the low road with the insults. But it's nothing you guys haven't done 1st. So touche'!!
I think it's laughabble that Flarob the great drummer/engineer won't tell us who he is. Especially since he's recorded and played with more people than Erskine himself (so he says).
Don't bother to respond, because I'm not anymore.

Suspect time [& place] for re-igniting the Who [or What] is [or isn't] Jazz debate...
Was it really THAT important?
